In Wednesday’s meeting of the House Committee on Public Health, some of our wonderful OB/GYNs came to testify on HB 15, authored by Committee Chair Lois Kolkhorst. HB 15 would create levels of care designations for hospitals that provide neonatal and maternal services.
The goal is to implement a system that will improve the outcomes of pregnancy for Texas women and their infants.
Dr. Lisa Hollier (TX-ACOG Chair) submitted written testimony stating, “As obstetricians, our life’s work is dedicated to improving the outcomes of pregnancy for women and their children. The right care in the right place at the right time provides the RIGHT start for our Texas babies. This bill will give us the tools and the support to improve the lives of all Texans.”
Thank you to Dr. Eugene Toy (NICU Council Chair), Dr. Margaret Kelley (TAOG President), Dr. Charlie Brown, Dr. John Thoppil, Dr. Michael Nix, Dr. John Gianopoulous for spending the day in committee and providing their expertise on this issue.
